Course Numbers: OCMB 6380 CZMT 0698 MEVS 5510
This seminar-style discussion course would explain the main federal legislation governing marine fisheries management in the United States, further insight into the federal fisheries management council and international regional fisheries management organization processes, and the development of U.S. domestic fisheries policy.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Describe at least four main laws relating to marine fisheries
- Define the varying responsibilities of fishery management councils and federal regulatory agencies
- Describe the main federal fisheries regulatory process
- Understand the differences between federal fisheries management and fisheries policy
