Primary Responsibilities:

Conduct early morning beach patrols throughout Broward County. Document sea turtle nests; identify species crawls, mark nests, record data pertaining to crawl characteristics, measurements, and GPS/address location. Determine if nests are in danger of negative impacts and relocate if necessary. Safely operate ATVs to patrol beaches and transport sea turtle eggs. Conduct post-hatching excavations. Coordinate for sea turtle stranding occurrences, also transport sick and injured sea turtles to rehabilitation facilities. Coordinate educational outreach programs and manage hatchling releases. Input and maintain data for yearly technical report. Assist project manager/permit holder with other requests.

Areas of Research Interest:

 Sea turtle biology, genetics, fibropapilloma virus, and nesting behavior. I’ve also done some histology and electron microscopy work with A. cervicornis and A. palmata larvae looking into the bacterial aggregates within the tissues and cell types.
